How to Attach an Electric Guitar Strap - Step-by-Step Guide
Step-by-step guide on how to attach a guitar strap to an electric guitar
Things You'll Need:
Guitar Strap: Look for one with two ends that have holes for fastening. If you plan on using the strap with different guitars you may want a slider adjustable strap.
Electric Guitar: It's best if it has two strap buttons, one at the base of the body and another close to where the neck meets the head of the guitar.
Step 1: Locate the Strap Buttons
Identify the Strap Button Placement: Most electric guitars feature two strap buttons. One is typically found at the base of the guitar (body). The other is usually located on the top of the instrument or near the neck area.
Step 2: Attach the Strap to the Bottom Button
Fasten the Strap to the Base Button. Find the strap end that is most comfortable for your shoulder. This is usually the end without the adjustment features. Insert the end of the strap onto the hole at the base button. Make sure it's securely fastened, with the button holding the strap tightly. Copperpeace guitar straps are very thick and secure, though you can always use strap locks or silicon bottle washers for extra security.
Step 3: Attach the Strap to the Top Button
Fasten the Strap to the Top Button. Locate the other end of the strap and place it over the top button near the neck or on the top of the instrument. Verify that both ends are securely attached by applying a light tug to ensure they won't come loose.
Step 4: Adjust the Strap Length
Adjust the Strap Length. Tune the strap to your liking using the strap's adjustment mechanism (usually a sliding buckle or tail end which will go through notches in strap). Stand up and hold the guitar in a position for playing to ensure the strap length is comfortable for you.
Bonus pro tips:
If the strap holes seem too loose, think about using strap locks or less invasive silicon bottle washers to ensure the strap stays in place. Check the strap's security by gently pulling on it near each button to make sure it fits snugly.
With your guitar strap properly attached, you're all set to start rocking!
