An Ode to Glovely on its 15 Year Anniversary

Introduced in 2009, the Copperpeace Glovely guitar strap is the most iconic strap in the Copperpeace collection.  Originally worn by Katy Perry on her 2009 I Kissed a Girl tour, the strap has been worn by many amazing artists since then, from the Edge to Alanis Morissette to Phoebe Bridgers.  The name Glovely was coined as a nod to Michael Jackson and his one sequined glove. The naming of the strap as Glovely unintentionally coincided with the year MJ passed away, so it became a subtle Copperpeace tribute to his music and fashion legacy.

For its 15th birthday, we gathered 15 design iterations of Glovely alongside some amazing artists through the years:

1. The OG Glovely Strap, 2009. Photo with Copperpeace founder, Jay Lynn, and Yashi Brown at the 'This is It' premiere after party–

Jay Lynn wore Glovely as a belt with Yashi Brown(Michael Jacksons niece) at the 'This Is It' premiere and memorial screening for MJ. The idea for the name Glovely came from Michael Jackson's sequined glove.

2. A 2024 Edition of the Silver Glovely Strap with a red pocket–

The best sequin guitar strap!

3. Limited Edition Disco Glovely with matte black medallion–

Copperpeace leather guitar straps are made with the finest materials in the USA.

4. Paul Banks from Interpol wearing Gold Sequined Glovely Strap–

This was a big fashion divergence for the all-black-clad musician. In fact, when he was choosing a Copperpeace strap he initially reached for the black Homerun, and then changed his mind and decided to try "something new" (Glovely) for his solo tour.

5. Phoebe Bridgers wearing a Copperpeace Silver Glovely Strap–

Phoebe has been rocking the Copperpeace Glovely strap for years, even well before releasing her debut album Stranger in the Alps in 2017. This is a more recent version of the silver Glovely styled with a skeleton-esque stage outfit, which was custom made by Gucci.

6. Copperpeace founder and designer Jay Lynn at the NAMM trade show with a red and gold Glovely in the Schecter guitar booth–

In this 2010 Copperpeace  edition the logo is foil-stamped on the pick pocket.

7. A gold and brown Glovely with 24k gold plated medallion–

The Glovely guitar strap always looks good with Gibson Les Paul guitar!

8. Alanis Morissette live TV performance with her gold Glovely guitar strap–

The custom embellished guitar is covered in Swarovski crystals.  The gold sequined Glovely strap is the perfect complement to this amazing custom gold guitar.

8. Copperpeace Night Glovely Strap with matte black medallion–

9. Portugal The Man rocking a silver Glovely guitar strap–

10. A one-off Gold Glovely Banjo Strap–

Copperpeace made this one-off Glovely banjo strap circa 2014.  It has an earlier rendition of the antique copperpeace medallion.

11. Walk The Moon playing Red Rocks with Double Glovely–

Fun facts: Walk the Moon made CP history with the Glovely guitar strap by being the first band to wear two Glovely's onstage simultaneously.  A couple of years later Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers joined the "double-glovely" crew by wearing matching silver Glovely's together in a music video for their collab Better Oblivion Community Center.

13. Cherry Glazerr Stuffed & Ready album cover with Silver and Black Glovely Strap–

Cherry Glazerr aka Clementine Creevy is the first artist to wear the Copperpeace Glovely on an album cover.  While Copperpeace had been on album art via live performance photos prior, this was a first album cover for Copperpeace and Glovely.

14. Latest Edition of our Silver Glovely Strap with black guitar pick pocket–

15. The one-and-only Copperpeace Glovely Silver Guitar Strap–
